In reply to the West Indies’ first-innings total of 311, Pakistan lost opener Azan Awais for a duck early in the innings
TAROUBA: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 27th, 2026) Pakistan finished the second day of the opening Test against the West Indies on 199 for 3, trailing the hosts by 112 runs after a solid recovery led by Shan Masood.
In reply to the West Indies’ first-innings total of 311, Pakistan lost opener Azan Awais for a duck early in the innings.
Shan Masood then combined with Imam-ul-Haq for a crucial 155-run stand for the second wicket to steady the innings.
Imam-ul-Haq scored a composed 63 before being dismissed, while captain Babar Azam contributed 23. At the close of play, Shan Masood was unbeaten on 88, with Salman Ali Agha yet to open his account.
Earlier in the day, the West Indies resumed their innings on 194/3. Keacy Hodge added to his overnight score before falling for 84, while Shai Hope top-scored with 92. The home side was eventually dismissed for 311 shortly after the lunch break.
Pakistan’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Mohammad Ali leading the attack by claiming four wickets. Mohammad Abbas took three, Khurram Shahzad picked up two, and Aamer Jamal chipped in with one dismissal.
Pakistan will resume batting on the third day needing 112 more runs to overhaul the West Indies’ first-innings total, with seven wickets still in hand.
