The incident occurred at the Golden Eagle Golf Club in Pitt Meadows, where players were in the middle of a round when the bear entered the course.
A video of the encounter, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the animal approaching a golf cart before grabbing a golf bag and dragging it away from the course.
According to the media reports, the bear pulled the bag to an area outside the course where another bear was waiting. The footage shows the two bears dragging the bag together for a short distance before abandoning it and running off.
No injuries were reported, and the unexpected theft quickly became a talking point among golfers and social media users.
Wildlife encounters are not uncommon in parts of British Columbia, where bears are frequently spotted near residential areas, parks and recreational facilities. However, incidents involving bears “stealing” sports equipment remain highly unusual.
