Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) apprehends following an intelligence-based operation.
GUJRAT: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 19th, 2024) The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab has arrested a close associate of former Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden from Gujrat.
During a press conference, DIG CTD Usman Akram Gondal stated that CTD Punjab has arrested a close associate of Osama bin Laden.
The terrorist was apprehended following an intelligence-based operation.
The arrested terrorist, Amin-ul-Haq, is a prominent Al-Qaeda militant whose name is also included in the United Nations’ global list of terrorists.
Usman Akram Gondal mentioned that a case has been registered against Amin-ul-Haq and an investigation has begun. Internationally,
Amin-ul-Haq was known as Osama bin Laden’s security supervisor. Any such terrorist arriving in Pakistan will face action.
DIG CTD further stated that the terrorist was previously arrested in 2007 and served a four-year sentence. He was heavily propagandized by an enemy country’s agency.
This terrorist was last seen in Afghanistan in August 2021 and recently entered Pakistan.
The investigations are ongoing to determine what such a high-level terrorist was doing in Pakistan.
He added that the terrorist possesses a Pakistani ID card with addresses in Lahore and Haripur. The investigations are underway to ascertain how the terrorist entered Pakistan and traveled with the said ID.
Usman Akram Gondal said that the case registered against the terrorist arrested from Gujrat would be pursued to ensure he faces the punishment.
It may be mentioned here that former Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed by American commandos in an operation in Abbottabad on May 2, 2011.
