The operations were launched following a recent increase in militant attacks targeting police and other law enforcement agencies in Banu
RAWALPINDI: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 17th, 2026) Pakistan’s security forces have killed 24 militants during a series of joint intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted over the past 24 hours in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Friday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were launched following a recent increase in militant attacks targeting police and other law enforcement agencies in Bannu, including a vehicle-borne suicide bombing that also resulted in civilian casualties.
The ISPR said security forces carried out extensive intelligence-led operations to track down those responsible for the attacks and dismantle their support network.
During intense exchanges of fire in Bannu and adjoining areas, 24 militants were killed, the statement said.
Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the slain militants. According to the military, those killed had allegedly been involved in multiple terrorist attacks and the killing of civilians.
The ISPR said clearance operations are continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants and bring all those involved in recent attacks to justice.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations across the country under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, saying security forces and law enforcement agencies remain determined to eliminate militancy and ensure lasting peace and stability.
