Mobile phone companies worried over license renewal

The government has not yet approved the policy framework to renew the license

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 2nd May, 2019) The licenses of two major mobile phone companies in Pakistan are going to expire on May 25, 2019.

However, the government has not yet approved the policy framework to renew the license.

The mobile operators are worried over this. The Ministry of Information Technology is responsible to make this policy framework. It is responsible to implement the policy.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to constitute a committee in this regard.

Sources said that the real reason behind the delay in renewing the policy is the differences between various government institutions.

The licenses of three mobile phone companies, including Telenor, warid (integrated into mobilink), will expire on May 25 while Zong’s license will expire in October.

The IT experts said that the governments usually make a policy framework for renewal of licenses at least five, six months.

However, the government has not yet formulated the policy when only three weeks are left in the expiry of licenses of two big mobile phone companies.
