WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th April, 2019) The United States Army has ordered $194 million worth of small-arms ammunition, Northrop Grumman announced in a press release on Tuesday.
"Orders were placed for 5.56mm, 7.62mm and Cal. 50 cartridges under the company's supply contract to produce small-caliber ammunition for the US government at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri," the release said.
The order will be filled by Northrop-Grumman subsidiary Alliant Techsystems Operations, the release said.
As the largest manufacturer of small-caliber ammunition for the US.Department of Defense, Alliant has produced more than 18 billion rounds of small-caliber ammunition at Lake City since 2000 to support US and allied war-fighters around the globe, the release added.
