Sammy does not want to play for IPL, likes playing in Pakistan only

“I play cricket in the entire world but I haven’t been playing IPL for two years. This is because I like playing in Pakistan,” he said.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 18th March, 2019) Peshawar Zalmi captain Darren Sammy has said that he only likes to play in Pakistan.

Speaking about why he does not play in the Indian Premiere League (IPL), Sammy said that he is a professional cricketer.

“I play cricket in the entire world but I haven’t been playing IPL for two years. This is because I like playing in Pakistan,” he said.

He said that according to coach Muhammad Akram, we don’t rely on one player to win the match.

Several Peshawar Zalmi players have won the title of man of the match in this tournament, he said.

About Quetta Gladiators winning the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 4 final, Sammy said that Sarfraz Ahmed deserved this victory.

He congratulated Quetta Gladiators, adding that Sarfraz performed as a great skipper.

Speaking about his experience in Pakistan, Sammy said that he has been enjoying playing cricket in Pakistan for the last four years.

He said that he has played eight matches in front of the massive Pakistani crowd. I want other international teams to come to Pakistan as well.

Sammy hoped that Wahab Riaz and Hassan Ali are a part of Pakistani squad for World Cup.

No other foreign player has become a household name in Pakistan through HBL Pakistan Super League than the double ICC World Twenty20 winning West Indies captain Daren Sammy.

So popular is the Peshawar Zalmi captain that the Zalmi fans call him Daren Sammy Khan, a common surname in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, from where the Zalmi team belongs.

Sammy was overwhelmed by the love he got when he shrugged off security fears to come and play for the HBL PSL franchise in the 2017 final and the love of the people in Pakistan enamoured Sammy.
