Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 16th March, 2019) Pakistan Army has shot down an Indian spy drone along the Line of Control (LoC).
Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet that Pakistan Army troops shot down an Indian spying quadcopter in Rakhchikri Sector along the LoC.
The ISPR DG further said that the quadcopter had intruded 150 meters into Pakistan.
“Pakistan Army troops shot down an Indian spying quadcopter in Rakhchikri Sector along Line of Control. The quadcopter had come 150 meters inside Pakistan,” he wrote.
Earlier, the Pakistani forces had on March 11 shot down an Indian drone for intruding into Islamabad’s territory.
According to local sources, the Indian drone was targeted in Kot Kotera Khuiratta sector.
The Indian drone had intruded into the Azad Kashmir in Khuiratta sector, media reports said.
On the other hand, the Indian army had also shot down a Pakistani unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) above India's western state of Rajasthan, local media reported citing the army's statement.
The drone was brought down in the district of Sri Ganganagar near the border between India and Pakistan, Indian media reported.
According to ANI agency, the drone had violated the Indian air space near the city of Bikaner and it was shot down by Indian Su-30 aircraft after being detected by ground stationed radars.
This was the second Pakistani drone shot down by Indian forces over the past 10 days, Indian media claimed.
The long-standing tensions between the two nations escalated after the Indian Air Force intruded into Pakistan's airspace along the Line of Control on February 26.
India claimed to have targeted an alleged training camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist organization which had claimed responsibility for a February 14 suicide attack on a convoy carrying Indian security forces that killed over 40 troops.
Pakistan, which denies any involvement in the February 14 attack, retaliated with airstrikes, downing an Indian jet over the disputed Kashmir region and capturing an Indian pilot.
Pakistan later handed back the Indian pilot as a peace gesture on March 1.
