Russia is ready to share its experience in organizing and hosting the FIFA World Cup with Qatar as the latter prepares to hold the championship in 2022, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday
DOHA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th March, 2019) Russia is ready to share its experience in organizing and hosting the FIFA World Cup with Qatar as the latter prepares to hold the championship in 2022, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday.
"Following a successful World Cup [in Russia], the next championship will be held in Qatar in 2022. We noted that the relevant bodies of the two states maintain close contacts. We will be ready to share our experience and advise our Qatari friends on how best to proceed with hosting this world championship, taking into account those decisions that were made and worked during preparations for the World Cup in Russia," Lavrov said at a press conference with Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
Russia hosted its first FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15, 2018. The matches took place in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg and Sochi.
Qatar will host the next FIFA World Cup between November 21 and December 18, 2022, at seven venues across the country.
