India, Bangladesh to Hold Military Drills Sampriti-2019 on March 2-15 - Defense Ministry

India and Bangladesh will hold a joint military exercise dubbed Sampriti-2019 on March 2-15 during which the armed forces of the two countries will practice joint combat operations against simulated terrorists, the Indian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday

NEW DELHI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th February, 2019) India and Bangladesh will hold a joint military exercise dubbed Sampriti-2019 on March 2-15 during which the armed forces of the two countries will practice joint combat operations against simulated terrorists, the Indian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"The exercise is aimed to strengthen and broaden the aspects of interoperability and cooperation between the Indian and Bangladesh Armies. The exercise will involve tactical level operations in a counter insurgency and counter terrorism environment under the UN mandate," the statement said.

According to the ministry, the drills will be held at Tangail, a district in the central region of Bangladesh near Dhaka. This will be the eighth edition of the exercise which is hosted alternately by both countries.

The previous joint military exercises of India and Bangladesh were held in November 2017.
