BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th February, 2019) Bruneian Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah expressed wish to come to Russia, Valentina Matvienko, the speaker of the upper house in the Russian parliament, said Tuesday."His Majesty the Sultan said he wanted to visit Russia again. I will convey his wishes. The date of this visit will be set via diplomatic channels," Matvienko told reporters.
She added the leader of the small Asian nation on the island of Borneo again asked President Vladimir Putin to come to Brunei on an official visit.
"I told him that Vladimir [Putin] was pleased to accept the invitation but that we needed to work on the substance of our [Russian-Bruneian] bilateral relationship," Matvienko stressed.
According to the senior lawmaker, all officials she met during her visit to Brunei said they looked forward to Putin's trip there. She also said her Bruneian counterpart had agreed to come to Russia next year.
