A man armed with a knife hijacked a bus in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian and drove it into the crowd on Tuesday, killing eight people and injuring 22 others, local media reported.
BEIJING (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th December, 2018) A man armed with a knife hijacked a bus in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian and drove it into the crowd on Tuesday, killing eight people and injuring 22 others, local media reported.The incident occurred at about 15:20 local time (07:20 GMT) in city of Longyan. Earlier in the day, the local police said that the attack left five people killed and 21 injured.
According to the CCTV channel, the preliminary investigation revealed that the attacker was an unemployed man by the name of Qiu born in 1970 and living in the Xinluo district of Longyan. Before the attack, the man strongly quarreled with the staff of a local housing committee who had come to his home in order to take a picture of his father for a certificate on benefits receipt. The suspect grabbed a knife, allegedly killed someone and then stole the bus.
According to the police, the attacker was detained on the spot and the investigation is underway.
