A man armed with a knife hijacked a bus in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian and drove it into the crowd on Tuesday, killing five people and injuring 21 others, the local police said.

The incident occurred at about 15:20 local time (07:20 GMT) in city of Longyan. A law enforcement officer is among the victims, according to the police.
The attacker was detained on the spot and the investigation is underway, the police noted.
