WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st September, 2018) The former president of a state of Kentucky-based SR Holding Company and an employee have been indicted for using corporate funds to help elect a candidate to an unnamed candidate for the US Senate during the 2014 election, the Department of Justice said in a press release.
"A Federal grand jury in Lexington returned an indictment charging Gerald G. Lundergan, 71, of Lexington, Kentucky, with one count of conspiracy, one count of making corporate campaign contributions, four counts of causing the submission of false statements to the FEC [Federal Election Commission], and four counts of causing the falsification of documents with the intent to obstruct and impede a matter within the FEC's jurisdiction," the release said on Friday.
The indictment also charges Dale Emmons of Richmond, Kentucky, with one count of conspiracy, one count of making corporate campaign contributions, two counts of causing the submission of false statements, and two counts of causing the falsification of documents with the intent to obstruct and impede, the release explained.
The candidate for the seat was not identified, but the Justice Department noted that the politician was a member of Lundergan's family.
Lundergan and another S.R. Holding employee made a number of payments totaling $194,270 from S.R. Holding funds for services that included audio-video production, lighting, recorded telephone calls, and campaign consulting between July 2013 and December 2015, according to the release.
