Soldier Killed in Iraq Helicopter Crash Identified - Pentagon

The soldier killed in Iraq when his helicopter crashed in Sinjar, Ninevah Province was 34-year-old Taylor Gavin of Spokane, Washington, the Department of Defense said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) The soldier killed in Iraq when his helicopter crashed in Sinjar, Ninevah Province was 34-year-old Taylor Gavin of Spokane, Washington, the Department of Defense said in a press release on Tuesday.

"Chief Warrant Officer 3 Taylor J. Galvin, 34, from Spokane, Washington, died Aug. 20, 2018, in Baghdad, Iraq, as a result of injuries sustained when his helicopter crashed in Sinjar, Ninevah Province, Iraq," the release said.

Gavin was assigned to a unit based in Fort Campbell in the US state of Kentucky.

Three other people were evacuated from the crash scene for treatment of their injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but Operation Inherent Resolve said in a statement on Monday that there is no indication hostile fire brought down the helicopter.
