The 2026 Henley Passport Index shows Pakistani passport holders can currently travel to 29 countries and territories without obtaining a visa in advance
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s passport has climbed two places in the latest global passport rankings, improving from 103rd to 101st. Despite the gain, the green passport remains among the world’s weakest, ranking ahead of only Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
The 2026 Henley Passport Index showed that Pakistani passport holders can currently travel to 29 countries and territories without obtaining a visa in advance, including destinations offering visa-free, visa-on-arrival or electronic travel authorisation.
The annual index, compiled by global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley & Partners, ranks 199 passports based on access to 227 travel destinations worldwide. The ranking measures the strength of a passport by the number of destinations its holders can enter without requiring a prior visa.
The report noted that changes in visa policies and international travel restrictions can influence passport rankings over time.
Singapore retained its position as the world’s most powerful passport, offering the highest level of global travel access. India ranked 81st, while Afghanistan remained at the bottom of the index with the world’s weakest passport.
Although Pakistan’s ranking has improved slightly, its passport continues to provide limited global mobility compared with most countries in the region.
