Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi says Pakistan’s actions were legitimate, targeted and proportionate measures taken against terrorist hideouts posing threats to national security
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 1st, 2026) Pakistan on Wednesday strongly rejected India’s remarks regarding Islamabad’s military strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure inside Afghanistan, terming the allegations baseless and unfounded.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan’s actions were legitimate, targeted and proportionate measures taken against terrorist hideouts posing threats to national security.
In an official statement, Andrabi criticised India’s comments, saying the accusations were misleading and lacked credibility. He stated that such remarks coming from India were ironic, given its history of interference in the internal affairs of neighbouring countries and violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The spokesperson further said India continues to deny Kashmiris their right to self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, despite relevant United Nations resolutions.
He also accused India of supporting and facilitating militant groups operating from Afghan territory against Pakistan, calling it a violation of international obligations and relevant UN Security Council sanctions.
According to Andrabi, India has consistently attempted to destabilise the region through provocative statements and unfounded allegations against Pakistan.
He maintained that Pakistan remains committed to safeguarding its citizens and will continue taking necessary measures in accordance with international law.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said security forces carried out precision strikes against terrorist hideouts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border during the night between June 28 and 29.
He said the operation was launched in response to recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and at a Pakistan Rangers camp in Karachi.
Under Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, security forces targeted militant camps in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar, destroying three major terrorist facilities. Officials said 29 militants were killed during the operation, while large caches of weapons and ammunition were also destroyed.
Pakistan has witnessed a sharp rise in terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. Border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have also remained high amid continued concerns over militant activity and cross-border attacks.
