Islamabad Court issues non-bailable warrants for KP CM Afridi

A district and sessions court in Islamabad noted the chief minister's absence and ordered the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 29th, 2026) A district and sessions court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi after he failed to appear in a case registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) over alleged remarks against state institutions.

The case was heard by Civil Judge Abbas Shah at the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad.

During the proceedings, the court noted the chief minister's absence and ordered the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants.

The court directed the authorities to arrest Suhail Afridi and produce him before the court by July 9.

According to court records, the case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) under the PECA law over allegations of making statements against state institutions.
