WASHINGTON: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Feb 24th, 2026) MrBeast, the world’s most-subscribed YouTuber, has disclosed that he is suffering from a rare eye condition that has left him nearly blind in his right eye.
Jimmy Donaldson, widely known as MrBeast, shared that he has been living with the condition for a considerable period. He said he frequently has to squint to see clearly and that even the use of contact lenses does not fully correct his vision. The condition, he noted, continues to pose challenges in his daily activities.
Although he did not publicly name the disease, ophthalmology experts suggest that the symptoms he described are consistent with Stargardt disease, a rare inherited retinal disorder.
Medical specialists explain that Stargardt disease usually develops in childhood or adolescence and primarily affects the macula — the central part of the retina responsible for sharp and detailed vision — while peripheral vision often remains unaffected. The disorder is caused by a genetic mutation that leads to the accumulation of toxic substances in retinal cells, gradually impairing central vision over time.
Currently, there is no definitive cure for the disease. However, researchers are exploring advanced treatments, including gene therapy. Doctors also advise patients to avoid excessive intake of Vitamin A and to wear UV-protective sunglasses to help safeguard their remaining vision.
