A SC two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi with Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan as the other member, will preside over hearing
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Feb 7th, 2026) The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday scheduled the hearing of criminal petitions in the Toshakhana case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan for February 9.
Following the completion of proceedings in the Islamabad High Court, the case has been referred back to the apex court. A SC two-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi with Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan as the other member, will preside over the hearing.
The trial court had earlier sentenced Imran Khan to three years in prison in the Toshakhana case. Subsequently, the Islamabad High Court suspended the sentence. The conviction was awarded under Sections 167 and 173 of the Elections Act.
According to the petition filed before the Supreme Court, the trial court allegedly ignored the remand order issued by the Islamabad High Court and did not act in accordance with its directions. The plea argues that the trial court’s decision, delivered after the high court’s order, exceeded its legal authority and should be declared unlawful.
In August 2023, the Supreme Court had deferred the hearing of the case while the Islamabad High Court was examining Imran Khan’s plea seeking suspension of his sentence.
