Babar Azam says good form is short-lived, focuses on winning trophies for Pakistan

Pakistan star batter says hearing fans chant his name in stadium remains a special and emotional experience

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Nov 28th, 2025) Pakistan cricket star Babar Azam has said that a cricketer’s good form is always short-lived, emphasising the need for constant focus and dedication to maintain high performance levels.

Speaking in an interview on former England captain Kevin Pietersen’s YouTube channel, Babar said that hearing fans chant his name in the stadium remains a special and emotional experience. “It was always my dream to represent my country, and this is my time,” he added.

During the light-hearted conversation, Pietersen asked Babar where he ranks among the batter’s favourite players, given that AB de Villiers is his top choice. “Second or third?” Pietersen joked. Babar responded with a smile: “No… sixth, or maybe seventh,” prompting laughter from both.

Babar said that despite his passion for batting, he accepts that failure is part of the game. “I am human. Sometimes we fail, but the important thing is to stay focused,” he said.

He added that a player’s strong run of form tends not to last long. “When you’re playing, the good times pass very quickly,” he noted.

Babar reiterated that his ultimate ambition remains to win major titles for Pakistan. “My goal is to bring trophies home, and I am working very hard to achieve that,” he said.
