As many as 1,130 students chase glory at UoG Sports Gala

GUJRAT: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-Nov 28th, 2025) The University of Gujrat’s Hafiz Hayat Campus hosted a glittering prize distribution ceremony for its annual Sports Gala 2025, with as many as 1,130 men and women athletes vying for honour in the premier sports event.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Zahoor‑ul‑Haq (Tamgha‑e‑Imtiaz) honoured outstanding student athletes with medals, trophies and special cash awards.

Prof. Dr Zahoor‑ul‑Haq announced a prize of Rs 20,000 for students who secured three or more individual medals, underscoring the university’s commitment to promoting discipline, healthy competition, and balance between physical and mental well‑being. His arrival was marked by a vibrant march‑past from students of various departments and the Mandi Bahauddin sub‑campus, followed by colourful cultural performances showcasing Pakistan’s diverse traditions.

This year’s gala saw enthusiastic participation from 1,130 students across cricket, badminton, table tennis, tug‑of‑war, and athletics events including high jump, long jump, shot put, discus, javelin, and relay races.

In female general sports, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physical education departments emerged as winners in different categories.

Male competitions were dominated by Physical Education, Computer Science, and the school of Law.

In athletics, the Physical Education Department led among female teams, while Computer Science topped the male category.

Rabia from Physical Education was declared Best Female Athlete, and Adeem Iqbal from Sub‑Campus Mandi Bahauddin won Best Male Athlete.

A total of 163 students reached the victory stand.

Prof. Dr Zahoor‑ul‑Haq praised the athletes and organizers, reminding students that victory should be celebrated with humility and respect, while discipline and cleanliness remain collective responsibilities.

Deputy Director Sports Nasira Parveen thanked all departments for their support, noting that such events enhance students’ mental capabilities.

The ceremony concluded with awards presented to winning and runner‑up teams in the presence of faculty, administrators, and distinguished guests.
