Ismail Baghaei says this is a technical matter that is being addressed by Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and other relevant bodies
TEHRAN: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-June 25th, 2025) Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei on Wednesday confirmed that Iran's nuclear facilities sustained severe damage as a result of American and Israeli attacks.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, when asked about the attacks on Iran’s nuclear installations, Ismail Baghaei said, "Yes, our nuclear facilities have been badly damaged. That is certain, because they have been repeatedly targeted."
Avoiding further details, Baghaei added, “this is a technical matter that is being addressed by Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and other relevant bodies,”.
This is the first official acknowledgment by an Iranian official that Iran's nuclear facilities suffered significant damage due to American and Israeli strikes.
Earlier, US media had claimed that, according to initial American intelligence assessments, the US strikes had not destroyed Iran's nuclear sites. The attacks had only set back Iran’s nuclear program by a few months.
However, the US President firmly rejected those reports, stating that the American strikes had completely destroyed Iran's nuclear installations.
It may be mentioned here that on Saturday, the United States intervened in the Iran-Israel war by bombing three of Iran’s nuclear sites. President Donald Trump stated that US aircraft targeted the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities.
