Gaza at War: Israeli military claims Hamas Commander Mohammad Deif killed in airstrike

The attack targeted tents in al-Mawasi, southern Gaza, which were housing displaced individuals and resulted in over 90 deaths

GAZA: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-August 1st, 2024) Israel's military on Thursday claimed that Hamas commander Mohammed Deif was killed in an airstrike on July 13.

The attack targeted tents in al-Mawasi, southern Gaza, which were housing displaced individuals and resulted in over 90 deaths.

At the time, there was no confirmation of Deif's presence among the casualties, and Hamas had stated that he survived the strike.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant described Deif's reported death as a major achievement in the effort to dismantle Hamas's military and governance structures in Gaza.

Gallant referred to Deif as "the Osama Bin Laden of Gaza" and suggested that his alleged death signifies a significant weakening of Hamas. He emphasized that Hamas operatives face either surrender or elimination, pledging continued efforts to target those responsible for recent attacks.
