Moscow, Beijing to Sign Multiple Deals During Xi's Russia Visit in June - Foreign Ministry

Russia and China plan to sign a number of important interstate and corporate agreements during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia in early June, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's First Asian Department Georgiy Zinoviev said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th May, 2019) Russia and China plan to sign a number of important interstate and corporate agreements during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia in early June, Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's First Asian Department Georgiy Zinoviev said on Wednesday.

Xi will arrive in Russia for a three-day state visit on June 5. This will be the leader's first official trip after re-election in March 2018.

"In a few days ... President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping will arrive in Russia. It is the main political event of the year in our bilateral relationship. We plan to hold talks on a broad range of issues and sign important finalized documents, including joint statements, interstate, interagency and corporate agreements," Zinoviev said during the fifth "Russia and China: cooperation in the new era" international conference.

Beijing and Moscow traditionally exchange presidential visits every other year, but the leaders also frequently attend various international events in each others' countries. In 2018, for instance, Russian President Vladimir Putin was in China for a state visit, while the Chinese leader arrived in Vladivostok for a working visit to attend the Eastern Economic Forum. This year, Putin has already visited Beijing to partake in April's Belt and Road international forum.

During his visit to Russia, Jinping will attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, set to be held from June 6-8.
