DOHA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th May, 2019) The Saudi-led coalition announced on Wednesday the start of a large-scale operation against the Yemeni Houthi rebels in the Yemeni province of Dalea under their control, which is known for historic monuments, Saudi media reported citing the coalition's statement.According to the coalition, the goal of the operation is to "reduce Houthis' opportunities to conduct hostile operations."
The coalition warned residents of the province to avoid approaching military facilities of the Houthis.
Yemen has been locked in a conflict between the government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Houthi rebels. The Saudi-led coalition has been conducting strikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request since March 2015.
The intense fighting in Yemen resulted in one of the worst humanitarian crises, with millions of people in the country suffering from hunger and lack of health care. The military operations by the Saudi-led coalition, supported by the United States and its allies, have produced mass civilian casualties and worsened the humanitarian crisis.
