Naeem Bukhari's video ridiculing Maryam Nawaz's face resurfaces on social media

Just yesterday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhry had come under fire for making distasteful remarks about Federal Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 23rd May, 2019) Misogyny and sexism is deeply rooted in Pakistani society, more so in our politics.

Every now and then, politicians make certain remarks about female politicians that are not only bad in taste but also very sexist and misogynist.

Just yesterday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhry had come under fire for making distasteful remarks about Federal Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan.

After widespread criticism on social media, the PML-N leader apologized for his misogynist remarks.

Now a video of senior lawyer and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeem Bukhari making such comments about PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz in a tv show has been surfacing again on social media.

In a video from last year, Naeem Bukhari goes as far as to call Maryam Nawaz as a “totally made up artificial person”.

“They compare her with Benazir Bhutto, who was also corrupt like her husband, but she was a brace woman,” he said while commenting on Maryam Nawaz.

“I remember Maryam Nawaz’s pictures when she had got married. I don’t know how her face changed to a sculpted face,” he added.

This followed Maryam Nawaz’s mimicry by Naeem Bukhari while the female host giggled to his highly condemnable comments.

As it got the attention of Twitterati, people again condemned Naeem Bukhari for making such poor remarks about a female politician.

This drew the ire of social media but not as much as Talal Chaudhry did. People are also criticising the female host Nadia Mirza for laughing over Naeem Bukhari’s remarks instead of stopping him there and then.

Here’s what they are saying:
