Russian Security Council Secretary to Discuss Security Issues at SCO Meeting in Bishkek

Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev will join the 14th meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Security Council Secretaries in Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on Wednesday, the Russian security council's press service said on Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th May, 2019) Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev will join the 14th meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Security Council Secretaries in Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on Wednesday, the Russian security council's press service said on Monday.

"The meeting is due to cover security situation within the SCO. [The secretaries] will also pay special attention to the prospects for cooperation development between the SCO members in the areas of countering terrorism, extremism and separatism, as well as illicit arms and drug trafficking, transnational organized crime and ensuring international information security," the statement said.

The 13th meeting of SCO national security council secretaries was held in Beijing in May 2018.

Created in 2001 in Shanghai, SCO is an intergovernmental organization, which aims to strengthen trust and promote cooperation between the member states. It is currently comprised of China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
