Russian Prime Minister Instructs Cabinet To Set Up Commission On Probing SSJ100 Plane Fire

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th May, 2019) Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Sunday instructed Russian Transport Minister Evgeny Ditrich to establish a state commission on investigating the circumstances of fire on board of Aeroflot's SSJ100 plane, his spokesman Oleg Osipov said.

"The head of government spoke via phone with Transport Minister Evgeny Ditrich, who reported on the situation in Sheremetyevo, where an Aeroflot plane made an emergency landing. It was instructed to form a state commission to investigate the circumstances of the incident," Osipov said.

At the same time, Medvedev instructed Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova to provide all necessary assistance to those injured in the incident.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 had to make an emergency landing earlier in the day at the at the Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport due to the fire on board, which ultimately destroyed half of the aircraft. According to the Russian authorities, the incident claimed life of one person, while six others were injured. Russian flagship carrier Aerflot confirmed that the fire had been extinguished.
