Shehbaz Sharif resigned as Public Account Chairman. Khawaja Asif appointed the head of the parliamentary party
LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 2nd May 2019) The PML-N's joint parliamentary party has nominated Rana Tanvir as the head of the Public Account Committee and Khawaja Asif as the parliamentary leader in the National Assembly.
According to media reports, PML-N President and Opposition Leader in NA Shehbaz Sharif has resigned as the PAC Chairman.
Punjab former chief minister had already left for London for his treatment and meet their granddaughters (daughters of Hamza and Salman). The PML-N said Shehbaz will stay in London and likely to return during the budget session.
The former ruling party stated that Shehbaz was never keen to become PAC chairman and only accepted the position on the insistence of joint opposition and parliamentary advisory group."
The PML-N will write a letter to NA speaker for issuance of notification for the appointment of Tanveer as PAC chairman.
There are media reports that Shehbaz has also resigned as opposition leader. But PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb rejected reports as "baseless and mere rumors." She said Shahbaz would continue to hold the position.
It is also being said that Shehbaz made the decision after consultation with his brother and party supremo Nawaz Sharif.
