Pakistan will immediately enforce UN sanction: Foreign Office

The United Nation has added Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Masood Azhar chief name on global terror list.

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 1st May 201) The United Nation has added Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar on global terror list.

The head of the banned outfit was placed on the list after China removed its objection on the listing.

The United Nations’ 1267 Sanctions Committee had announced its decision on Wednesday.

Pakistan has announced that it will immediately enforce the sanctions imposed by the UN.

"This entails a ban on foreign travel, asset freeze and arms embargo," said Foreign Office spokesperson Dr. Faisal, adding the country always maintained terrorism was a curse wherever it was happening. He said India indulged in state-sponsored terrorism against innocent people of Kashmir.

He explained Azhar listing was agreed in the UN after members on the removal of political references.

Indian media flashed the news while the BJP has credited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the listing.

“That is why India needs a strong & decisive leader. Grateful to PM @narendramodi and his diplomatic efforts that led to the UN designating Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. It was long overdue. This also reflects PM Modi's commitment towards Zero Tolerance against terrorism,” tweeted BJP President Amit Shah.

Pakistan rejected Indian claims, saying New Delhi had tried to link the Kashmir freedom struggle with the JeM. But, said Dr. Faisal during a press briefing in Islamabad, it badly failed to achieve his mission. He said the struggle of the people of Kashmir against oppression will bear fruit some day.

New Delhi had been seeking JeM chief listing since 2016, but the latest push came after the Feb 14 Pulwama attack.

The US, United Kingdom and France were behind the fresh move in the UN but Beijing halted the process on technical grounds. China blocked the move but it lifted its objections on Tuesday.
