Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 22nd March, 2019) Secretary, Economic Affairs Division (EAD), Noor Ahmed, and Country Director, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Xiaohong Yang, signed a grantagreement for National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF).Government of Switzerland has provided an amount of US$ 1.5 million throughAsian Development Bank for NDRMF. The grant will be utilized for enhancingresilience and reducing disaster risk in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A ProjectAgreement for Swiss Grant was also signed between Ms. Xiaohong Yang,Country Director, ADB, and Lt. Gen. (R) Nadeem Ahmed, Chief ExecutiveOfficer, NDRMF.National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) has been established as agovernment-owned public limited company with technical and financialassistance of Asian Development Bank. The objective of the Fund is toestablish a sustainable mechanism to support disaster risk reduction andfinancing instruments that can enhance Pakistan's resilience to futuredisasters. The NDRMF will reduce the socio-economic and fiscalvulnerability of the country and its population to natural hazards byprioritizing and financing investments in disaster risk reduction andpreparedness that have high economic benefits taking into account climatechange as well as disaster risks and their impacts.
