Winter's not yet over as rain hits parts of country

The Met office has predicted light rain in various cities of Punjab.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 11th March, 2019) Scattered rains have started lashing different districts of Punjab on Monday, including Lahore, turning weather chilly by forcing people to wear additional warm cloths.

According to Met office, widespread rain-thunderstorm occurred in upper Punjab (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions), Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir, and at scattered places in Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and DG Khan divisions.

The Met office has predicted light rain in various cities of Punjab.

The coldest temperature was recorded at Kalam with -7 degrees.

Meanwhile, life is crippled in Balochistan amid torrential rainfall in different areas of the province, particularly Chagai district.

Heavy falls have caused flash flooding in local nullahs and riverine of Balochistan and hill torrents of DG Khan. The heavy rains have triggered landslides in Malakand, Hazara, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.

The current rainfall is because of westerly wave, which is present over the country and may persist in upper and central parts till next week.

Snowfall over the hills is also expected in Northern areas including Swat, Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba and Upper Dir, Hazara division.

Owing to recent spells of rain and snowfall, winter season has prolonged.

The agriculturists have termed recent rainfall extremely beneficial for wheat crops especially in rainy and aridareas of the province. Due to recent rains, seasonal infections like cough, ENT diseases and other allergies would curtailed in the province.

Experts predict that prevailing weather condition would persist during the next few days.
