MEXICO CITY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd February, 2019) Venezuela's national guard blocked the road and fired tear gas at a convoy of opposition lawmakers' cars on their way to receive humanitarian assistance at the border with Colombia, local media reported.
The soldiers blocked the passage to La Cabrera tunnel in northern Carabobo state using trailers, according to the VPI tv broadcaster.
But the Nacional news portal later reported that the convoy had manage to break through the tunnel.
Venezuelan parliament speaker Juan Guaido, who proclaimed himself the country's interim president, has earlier said that the delivery of humanitarian aid to Venezuela would start on February 23.
The Venezuelan government headed by sitting President Nicolas Maduro so far has refused to accept humanitarian aid, blasting it as a plot to topple his government.
