Pakpattan DPO Maria Mahmood doesn't like old man patting her head, takes him into custody

The 85-year-old man had patted the head of female DPO Maria Mahmood which she didn't like

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 10th January, 2019) An elderly man was arrested in Pakpattan for patting the head of Pakpattan District Police Officer (DPO) Maria Mahmood.

According to details, the 85-year-old president of trade union, Sufi Muhammad Rasheed, had patted the head of female DPO Maria Mahmood in the open court held in the municipal committee hall in Arifwala.

Not liking the act, the DPO rebuked the elderly man, saying she only considered his age.

Following this, the trade union president was taken into custody.

Protesting over the attitude of the DPO, the traders announced a strike.

When Chaudhry Naeem Ibrahim spoke to the Sahiwal Regional Police Officer (RPO) about the issue, he took notice of the incident, following which the old man was released.

On the other hand, in the police case registered against Sufi Muhammad, his scuffle and arrest was not even mentioned.

The SHO in his statement said that the old man had misbehaved with him when he was managing traffic at Ghalla Mandi.

Rejecting the stance of the police, the old man said that he had only tried to extend his goodwill to the female DPO by patting her head but she shook off his hand.

He said that he was taken into custody after registering a false FIR.
