Geert Wilders thanks Imran Khan for arresting Khadim Rizvi

He asked the prime minister to make sure he remains in jail for the rest of his life.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 31st December, 2018) Far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders has thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for arresting Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi.

In a tweet on Sunday, the Dutch politician said, “Nice @ImranKhanPTI that you arrested the terrorist #KhadimHussainRizvi who put a fatwa on my head.”

He asked the prime minister to make sure he remains in jail for the rest of his life.

TLP chief Khadim Rizvi was taken in protective custody last month under section 14 and 16 Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO).

The government later decided to initiate legal action against the TLP leaders. Khadim Rizvi was charged under terrorism and treason laws after it staged countrywide protests against the Supreme Court's acquittal of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman facing blasphemy charges.

The protests had paralysed routine life in major cities of the country for three days forcing the government to sign a controversial deal.

Earlier, the TLP had carried out a rally to Islamabad in August against the holding of blasphemous caricatures contest.

Giving in to the pressure, Geert Wilders cancelled the blasphemous ‘Muhammad Cartoon Contest’ owing to death threats and large-scale protests in Pakistan.

The Pakistani government had taken credit for the move.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had termed it a victory of Muslim Ummah.

“Cancellation of blasphemous contest is a great moral victory of Muslim Ummah: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi,” the Government of Pakistan had tweeted.

Responding to this tweet, Wilders said, “Dont claim victory too soon @pid_gov I am not finished with you yet. I will expose your barbarism in many other ways.”

Geert stated on his Twitter account that he was cancelling the contest as it could pose danger of violence against innocent people.

In a published statement, he said that he would never personally stop his campaign against islam but the risk to innocents, and of attacks on the Netherlands, stemming from the proposed contest, were too great.

“My point about the intolerant nature of Islam has been proved again by this,” he had said.
