LUHANSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th December, 2018) The body of a Russia citizen, who was voluntarily fighting for the people's militia in Donbas and died in a jail in the Ukrainian city of Lviv, was delivered to Russia, representative of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in the political subgroup at the Minsk talks Rodion Miroshnik told Sputnik on Thursday.

Last week, a LPR representative in the working group on humanitarian issues of the Contact Group Olga Kobtseva told Sputnik that Ivanov died in prison from being beaten by the prison guards. Ivanov was included in the latest list of prisoners swap between LPR and Ukraine, but at the last minute Kiev excluded him and some other Russian citizens from the list.

"The coffin with the body of prisoner Valery Ivanov, who was killed in the Lviv jail, crossed the Ukrainian-Belarusian and the Belarusian-Russian border and is now in Russia," Miroshnik said.

He pointed out that the body would be delivered to the northern Russian city of Severodvinsk, where Ivanov would be buried on Saturday.

Miroshnik added that Ivanov was fighting for the LPR when he was captured by a Ukrainian subversive group in 2015.
