Israel's special operation on Monday in Ramallah, West Bank was held next to the Russian mission in the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), and therefore Russia calls on Israel to calculate the negative consequences for civilians, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th December, 2018) Israel's special operation on Monday in Ramallah, West Bank was held next to the Russian mission in the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), and therefore Russia calls on Israel to calculate the negative consequences for civilians, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.Earlier this week, media reported that on Monday, Israeli troops raided the office of the Palestinian news and Information Agency (WAFA) in Ramallah and took positions a few hundred meters from the residence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Several dozens of Palestinians were arrested in several cities of the West Bank during other raids.
"This military action lasted for several hours, all the entrances and roads to the [WAFA] office were blocked by Israeli soldiers and military hardware. Residents of Ramallah expressed protest by throwing stones at the Israelis. The Israeli military responded with tear gas, stun grenades, firing rubber and combat bullets. Several dozens of Palestinians were injured. The operation took place near the residence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the building where the Russian mission to the PNA is located," the ministry said.
The ministry also called on Israel, when making decisions on conducting special operations, to calculate the negative consequences for civilians, including possible threats to the health and safety of employees of foreign missions.
The Palestinian side assumed that the actions of Israel were connected with the search for militants who had wounded seven Israelis a week ago, opening fire at them from a car near the Jewish settlement of Ofra.
