US Plans to Establish Quasi-State East of Euphrates With Help of Syrian Allies - Lavrov

The United States, through its Syrian allies, is trying to use the territory east of the Euphrates River to create a quasi-state there, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th October, 2018) The United States, through its Syrian allies, is trying to use the territory east of the Euphrates River to create a quasi-state there, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

"I tend to disagree with you that Idlib is the last problematic region in Syria. There are huge land stretches east of the Euphrates where absolutely unacceptable things happen. The US tries to use these territories through its Syrian allies, primarily the Kurds, in order to establish a quasi-state there," Lavrov said in an interview with RT France, the Paris Match and Figaro.

"I do not rule out that the United States in this area, as a rule, is trying to maintain the situation in such a heated state so that no one could calm down. In these muddy waters, it is much easier for them to catch the fish they want. It never ended up well," the minister stressed.

The full text of the interview will be posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website on October 18.
