Russian, South Korean Business Councils Sign Memorandum of Understanding

The Russia-Korea and Korea-Russia business councils signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding, the signing ceremony took place at a bilateral business breakfast on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia's Vladivostok.

VLADIVOSTOK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th September, 2018) The Russia-Korea and Korea-Russia business councils signed on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding, the signing ceremony took place at a bilateral business breakfast on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia's Vladivostok.

The document was signed by Artem Avetisyan, the director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives' New Business Department, and CJ Logistics Corp. CEO Park Keun-tae.

When addressing the business breakfast, South Korean Ambassador in Russia Woo Yoon-keun noted that Moscow and Seoul were actively improving bilateral economic ties.

"A platform has been created to identify specific projects in nine areas. We have set a goal to achieve a trade turnover of $30 billion and people-to-people contacts of 1 million people [per year] by 2020. I hope that today's event will be a good starting point for dialogue between the two countries' businesses," the diplomat said.

Russia's trade representative in Seoul Mikhail Bondarenko has announced earlier that the bilateral trade had increased by 30 percent, up to 15 billion rubles ($214.6 million), in the first seven months of 2018.

The fourth EEF is now underway on the island of Russky in Vladivostok. The main event of the forum will be the plenary session "The Russian Far East: Creating a New Reality" with Russian President Vladimir Putin's participation. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is the general information partner of the forum.
