US Ex-Secretary of State Kerry Says US Administration in

Former US Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday that the US administration was in the midst of a "genuine constitutional crisis" following the publication of excerpts from Bob Woodward's expose book and an op-ed, allegedly by a White House aide, in the New York Times newspaper.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) Former US Secretary of State John Kerry said Thursday that the US administration was in the midst of a "genuine constitutional crisis" following the publication of excerpts from Bob Woodward's expose book and an op-ed, allegedly by a White House aide, in the New York Times newspaper.

The op-ed, issued on Wednesday, suggested that several members of the Trump administration were working against him. The author, purportedly a senior White House official, wrote that there were "whispers" of impeachment, but nobody wanted to "precipitate a constitutional crisis."

"We have a presidency which is off the rails ... We have a President who is not capable of doing the job, who clearly has these temper tantrums, doesn't know enough to be making many of the decisions he makes. And we see the evidence of people stealing a presidential document off his desk ... This is a genuine constitutional crisis," Kerry told the CNN broadcaster.

According to the excerpts from Woodward's upcoming book "Fear: Trump in the White House," administration officials often had to hide documents from Trump to prevent him from signing, while others expressed doubt over president's understanding of the issues before him. Woodward is best known for his reporting on the Watergate scandal, the affair that resulted in the resignation of President Richard Nixon in 1974.

Trump struck back at the New York Times, demanding that the newspaper disclose the identity of the op-ed author if such a person "does indeed exist." Trump also slammed Woodward's book as "a work of fiction."
