Syrian engineering troops have demined three more hectares of territory in the Homs province over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said on Thursday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th September, 2018) Syrian engineering troops have demined three more hectares of territory in the Homs province over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Refugee Reception, Distribution and Settlement said on Thursday.

"The Syrian army engineering units have been carrying out mine clearance operations in the settlements of Sejra, Tel Bisa, Nasiri-Harabesi, located in Homs province. They have cleared up 3 hectares of the territory," the center said in its daily bulletin.

According to the bulletin, the engineering troops found and defused 59 explosive devices. Among them there were no improvised explosive devices (IED).

To date, Syrian engineers have found and defused 8,245 explosive devices, including 2,489 improvised explosive devices, in Homs province, clearing up 304.8 hectares of the territory, 849 buildings and 68 kilometers (42.2 miles) of roads.

A total of 960 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from neighboring Lebanon through Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints over the past 24 hours, the center added.
