Former Argentinian President Kirchner Demands Closure of Bribery Case, Judge's Dismissal

Former Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (2007-2015) demanded on Monday to close a bribery case opened against her as well as to dismiss the judge and prosecutor responsible for the investigation into the case.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th August, 2018) Former Argentinian President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (2007-2015) demanded on Monday to close a bribery case opened against her as well as to dismiss the judge and prosecutor responsible for the investigation into the case.

Earlier on Monday, Kirchner appeared before court, but refused to answer its questions. Instead she handed over a statement with the above-mentioned requirements to the justice. The statement's copy was released on Kirchner's Twitter blog.

In early August, the notes of an Argentinian businessman's driver, alleging that the country's businesses paid millions in bribes to officials of the Argentinian Ministry of the Interior, Public Works and Housing, leaked to media, after which a bribery case was brought against the former Argentinian president.

In May, Kirchner was questioned by the court as part of a separate money-laundering case. Kirchner, along with other high-ranking officials of her administration, is also under criminal prosecution over the suspected coverup of details of the 1994 bombing in Buenos Aires.
