LHC allows Fawad Chaudhry to contest elections

Rejects appellate tribunal’s decision disqualifying him

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 28th June, 2018) The Lahore High Court (LHC) bar has allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry to contest elections.

According to media reports, the PTI leader said that the LHC dismissed the earlier decision by appellate tribunal disqualifying him.

He said that the LHC decision is the victory of the people of Jehlum. He expressed gratitude to the LHC judges to allow him to contest elections.

The appellant tribunal had on Wednesday rejected the nomination papers of PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry from NA-67 Jhelum.

The application filed by Justice and Democratic Party candidate Fakhar Abbasi Kazmi asked the tribunal that Fawad failed to pay agriculture tax while cited a difference in his CNIC his name was written as Fawad Ahmed instead of Fawad Hussain Chaudary.

Accepting the arguments, the appellant tribunal chaired by Justice Ibadul Rehman Lodhi of the LHC rejected nomination papers of PTI spokesman from NA-67.

The tribunal also rejected nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate from NA-67 and Sardar Ghulam Abbas from NA-64 Chakwal.
