Dr Muhammad Amjad appointed as new chairman of the party.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 22nd June, 2018) Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf has resigned from chairmanship of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML).

Dr Muhammad Amjad has been appointed the new chairman of the party.

According to media reports, APML spokesperson Dr Amjad said that Musharraf has resigned as party chairman.

Musharraf has sent his resignation to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) as It was no longer possible for him to run party matters from abroad, Dr Amjad said, and added he couldn't return back to Pakistan due to different cases registered against him.

The party has sent a formal request to the ECP notifying about the change in its chairmanship. Musharraf will, however, remain the supreme leader of the party.

The Supreme Court (SC) had withdrawn its orders allowing former president Musharraf to file nomination papers after he failed to return Pakistan and appear before it.

Following the court orders, the ECP rejected Musharraf’s nomination papers for NA-1 Chitral.
