Fawad Chaudhry, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed give different suggestions
Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 1st June, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) can’t seem to decide final Names to nominate for caretaker chief minister of Punjab as party leaders have been giving different names for the post.
Earlier today, PTI leader Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed had that Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi, Orya Maqbool Jan and Yaqoob Tahir Izhar have been nominated for caretaker chief minister of Punjab.
However, in a tweet later, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry gave his own list of nominees. These included Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi, Ayaz Amir and Yaqoob Tahir Izhar.
“PTI has proposed three names to be appointed as Caretaker Punjab CM. 1) Hassan Askari 2) Ayaz Amir 3) Yaqub Izhar... agreement on one name is expected by tomorrow evening,” Chaudhry said.
Talking to a tv channel, he said that half the leadership is in Lahore while others are in Islamabad, leading to a confusion in the nominees. He said that these names are decided by the party.
Negating this, PTI leader Rasheed said that the party suggested total four names for caretaker chief minister. He said that I gave those names after consultation with the party. The party had suggested Ayaz Amir’s name on fourth number, he added.
The PTI had at first suggested former bureaucrat Nasir Mahmood Khosa’s name for caretaker chief minister of Punjab. However, it took a U-turn and decided to withdraw the name of Nasir Khosa for the position. Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rashid said in a statement that the PTI had decided to take back the name of Nasir Khosa and would suggest another name after consultation with the party leadership.
The PTI then decided to nominate senior defence analyst Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP Nasir Durrani for the position of caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab after controversy with Nasir Mahmood Khosa.
However, the former KP IGP has excused from taking the charge citing health issues as the reason. Durrani said that his health does not allow him to fulfill these responsibilities.
It then suggested Orya Maqbool Jan and Yaqoob Tahir Izhar’s names along with Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi for the position. However, Orya Maqbool Jan’s name has now been replaced by Ayaz Amir’s name.
