First woman to contest elections from FATA’s Kurram Agency

In a historic first, a woman from Kurram Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Ali Begum has announced contesting for the general elections.

Kurram Agency (Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2018) In a historic first, a woman from Kurram Agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Ali Begum has announced contesting for the general elections.

The candidate has launched her election campaign as well.

According to media reports, this is the first time in the history of the country that a woman is going to contest for the elections.

Ali Begum is a former civil servant. While campaigning, Ali Begum said that she spent all her life serving the people and now she wants to become a voice of the under-privileged by contesting for elections.

She said that I was contacted to contest in the previous elections as well but someone else was given a chance. This time, I myself will get elected for the service of people, she added.

She said that she will continue her mission of public service regardless of the fact that she wins or not.

She said that she will take steps to solve issues relating to health, education and communication.

In an interview with a tv channel, Ali Begum told that she was the only woman in Peshawar Civil Secretariat as well when appointed as a planning officer in 1983.
