SSTs of Mardan protest in favour of demand of promotion

Hundred of Subject Specialist Teachers (SSTs) of different schools of Mardan district on Saturday staged protest rally outside the press club building in Mardan for acceptance of their demand of promotion.

MARDAN, (Pakistan Point News - 20th Jan, 2018) : Hundred of Subject Specialist Teachers (SSTs) of different schools of Mardan district on Saturday staged protest rally outside the press club building in Mardan for acceptance of their demand of promotion. The protestors carrying placards and banners the teachers from different schools reached Government Higher school (GHS) No-3 and started march on different roads of the City. Rally was led by president of Secondary School Welfare Association (SSWA) Dr.

Jamsheed Khan, General Secretary Awal Khan, Tehsil Katlang president Abdur Raziq, Habibullah tehsil Mardan president, Abdur Rehman, Syed Intazar Hussain, Aziz-ur-Rehman and other office bearers. Later on the protest rally changed in to protest demonstration in front of Mardan press club. Addressing on the occasion, speakers said that the SST teachers fully deserved an esteem status in the society and that the government should initiate concrete measures in that regard.

They said that the government should accept the longstanding demand of up gradation of SST teachers without any further delay. Later addressing to a news conference at Mardan press club, Dr, Jamsheed said that from 1991 the SST teachers are working in 17 scale. He added that all cadres of employees were promoted while SST were ignored. He added that due to this reason feeling of deprivation is found among the SST. He added that on 5 January 2015 Khyber-Pakhtunkwa assembly unanimously passed a resolution in this connection but unfortunately the resolution wasn’t implemented so far.

He added that due to the not implementation of the resolution the SST teachers came on roads and staged protest rallies. He demanded the issuing of notification of promotion and up gradation of SST teacher as per the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly resolution. He termed the government decision of not issuing the notification as anti-SST and unjust. He warned that if provincial government did not fulfill their demand till 24th January then on 26 January more than 22,000 SST will staged protest rally outside Peshawar press club and later on will stage sit-in outside PTI chief Imran Khan house Banigala at Islamabad for the acceptance of their demand.
