Field Marshal Asim Munir Arrives in Türkiye on Two-Day Official Visit

Field Marshal Munir was warmly received upon his arrival and is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Türkiye's military and political leadership during the visit, say official sources

ANKARA: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 13rd, 2026) Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrived in Türkiye on Monday for a two-day official visit aimed at further strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and discussing regional security issues.

The official sources said that Field Marshal Munir was warmly received upon his arrival and is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Türkiye's military and political leadership during the visit.

The discussions are expected to focus on matters of mutual interest, regional security developments and expanding defence collaboration between the two countries.

The visit follows last month's trip to Pakistan by General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, who met Field Marshal Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. During those talks, both sides reviewed regional security issues, professional military cooperation and ways to further enhance defence ties.

During his stay in Pakistan, General Tokel also held separate meetings with Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral military cooperation, professional exchanges and the regional maritime security environment.

The Turkish commander praised the professionalism of Pakistan's armed forces and acknowledged their role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Pakistan and Türkiye enjoy longstanding strategic relations based on close political, defence, economic and cultural cooperation.

The latest visit also comes shortly after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and expanding economic cooperation. The two sides also reiterated their goal of increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion, reflecting the growing partnership between the two countries.
