Court grants five-day physical remand of four suspects in foreign women's abduction, rape case

Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood passed the order after Defence Police sought their physical remand to conduct further investigation

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-July 3rd, 2026) A judicial magistrate on Friday granted a five-day physical remand of four suspects, including the principal accused, in connection with a case involving the alleged abduction and rape of two foreign women in Lahore's Defence area.

Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood passed the order after Defence Police sought their physical remand to conduct further investigation.

The court completed the attendance of all arrested suspects before hearing the prosecution's request.

During the proceedings, the judge directed the accused to remove their face masks to verify their identities in the courtroom.

The prosecutor informed the court that the complainants are foreign nationals and submitted that the investigation was still at an early stage.

The investigating officer argued that further interrogation of the accused was essential to collect evidence, recover relevant material, verify facts, and complete the remaining stages of the investigation. The prosecution maintained that the suspects' physical custody was necessary to ensure a thorough and effective probe.

After hearing the arguments, the court approved a five-day physical remand of all four accused, including the principal suspect, Raza Dar, and directed the police to continue the investigation in accordance with the law.

The case was registered following allegations that two foreign women were abducted and sexually assaulted in Lahore's Defence locality. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the alleged involvement of all arrested suspects.

The court ordered the investigating officer to produce the accused again after the expiry of the remand period along with a progress report on the investigation. Further proceedings in the case will continue at the next hearing.
